Increasing Website Traffic

November 3, 2008 · Posted in Entrepreneur Corner

There is so much info out there about how to increase your website or blog traffic.  It is almost head-spinning amounts of information.  I would love to hear from some experts and non-experts alike.  I know what my favorites are, but what tactics do you use?  What resources have you found to be most useful?

I’d love to share your thoughts, ideas and also links with others.  Please include any link info in your post.

thanks!

Mostly I post on related blogs and message boards, which gets me a steady flow of traffic, including new people coming into the blog.

I had one post on BlogHer (on breastfeeding on airplanes) explode because it got picked up for use in their advertising network. That brought me over 1000 page views just in one day. This was the BlogHer post: http://www.blogher.com/breastfeeding-airplanes-incidents-policies-tips-sattire

I love Twitter! I’ve met so many great people there, a huge amount of my traffic comes from there. Also, my relaunch doubled my subscriber list. Giveaways, people love free!

I use Twitter, Myspace and Facebook and Squidoo. I’ve created 5 squidoo lenses or pages. I came across a squidoo lens on increasing traffic by using your “follow/no follow” tags to allow the links go through. You can find the link to the fellow squidoo-ers page on this topic. It will make you think about this… are the tags on your blogs allowing the links to follow, etc?
